Seafood Scotland welcomes the conclusion of negotiations on the UK–Republic of Korea Free Trade Agreement, marking an important step forward for Scotland’s seafood sector.
The Republic of Korea is a key and growing market for Scottish seafood, and the reduction of trade barriers will help strengthen market access, improve supply chain efficiency and support long-term growth for exporters across Scotland.
Commenting on the agreement, Adam Wing, Head of Trade Marketing for the UK, Middle East and Asia, said: “The conclusion of the UK–Republic of Korea Free Trade Agreement is a positive step for Scotland’s seafood sector. Korea is an increasingly important market for our exporters, and this agreement will help strengthen market access, support trade growth and create new opportunities for Scottish seafood businesses.”

“We recently supported a deal to export Scottish mackerel to Korea under a private-label arrangement with 홈플러스(주) (Homeplus Inc.), and are working closely with colleagues in-market on upcoming trade promotion activity. Through our membership of the British Chamber of Commerce in Korea, we also continue to stay closely aligned to market developments and consumer trends.”
Seafood Scotland looks forward to working with the UK Government and industry partners to maximise the opportunities this agreement presents for Scotland’s seafood sector.
