Scottish seafood was prominently featured at this year’s Japan International Seafood & Technology Expo in Tokyo, with six Scottish companies partnering with Seafood Scotland to showcase the quality, variety, and versatility of Scotland’s renowned seafood offerings.
Representing a range of products from mackerel and salmon to shellfish and whitefish, the participating companies had valuable opportunities to connect with buyers, chefs, and industry representatives from across Japan and the broader international market.
Seafood Scotland was also pleased to sponsor the World Sushi Cup once again, bringing together leading sushi chefs from around the world to compete in Tokyo. Scottish salmon was a popular choice among competitors, providing a notable platform to demonstrate the product’s exceptional quality and versatility to an international audience.
Throughout the event, Scottish seafood tastings received positive feedback from visitors at the UK Pavilion. Additionally, a buyer reception at the British Embassy Tokyo offered further opportunities to showcase Scotland’s premium seafood and establish meaningful connections within the Japanese market. Japan remains an important market for Scottish seafood, and our presence in Tokyo underscored the continued interest and demand for Scotland’s high-quality products.
Seafood Scotland wishes to thank the six Scottish companies that participated, as well as our partners at Scottish Development International, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, the Department for Business, Innovation, and Science, Seafish, and the British Embassy Tokyo. We also appreciate everyone who visited the pavilion and experienced Scottish seafood during the event.
