Last week, the Seafood Scotland team headed to Oban to attend the Association of Scottish Shellfish Growers (ASSG) Conference 2025 — a key event in the aquaculture calendar and a fantastic opportunity to connect with innovators, producers, and partners from across the sector. The conference offered plenty of fresh perspectives and valuable insights, sparking meaningful conversations about the future of Scotland’s cultivated shellfish industry. We were proud to see Marie-Anne Omnes, Head of Trade Marketing – Europe, and Chief Executive Donna Fordyce representing Seafood Scotland on stage, sharing their expertise and passion for the sector. Closing the conference, Donna delivered a powerful address that:
▪️ Showcased the ongoing work and achievements of Seafood Scotland
▪️ Highlighted key market trends and growth opportunities — from the rise of healthy protein to the growing demand for snackable seafood
▪️ Explored shifting consumer perceptions and the evolving post-Brexit landscape
▪️ Emphasised the importance of engaging the next generation — from classrooms to careers
▪️ Championed initiatives like the Scottish Ocean Cluster, which are driving sustainable innovation across the blue economy
A huge thank you to the ASSG for another brilliant event. We’re proud to support a sector that’s not only vital to Scotland’s coastal communities but also central to our global reputation for world-class seafood.
