Seafood Scotland welcomed hundreds of school pupils and visitors to its stand at the Royal Highland Show, delivering an engaging programme of activities designed to increase understanding of Scottish seafood and its journey from sea to plate.
Located within the RHET Discovery Centre, the stand offered pupils the opportunity to take part in seafood tasting sessions, quizzes and interactive learning activities. For many young visitors, it was their first experience of trying seafood species such as salmon, mussels, mackerel and haddock.
The activities were designed to encourage curiosity about where food comes from while helping pupils develop confidence in trying new foods. Through hands-on experiences, pupils learned about the nutritional benefits of seafood, the importance of sustainable production, and the role Scotland’s seafood sector plays in supporting coastal communities.
The Royal Highland Show provides a valuable platform for connecting young people with food production, and Seafood Scotland was delighted to play its part in helping future consumers make informed choices about healthy and sustainable food. The team welcomed strong engagement from schools throughout the event and looks forward to building on this important educational work in the future.
