Last week, the team from Seafood Scotland joined around 35,000 seafood professionals in Barcelona for the 30th edition of Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global, the world’s largest and most diverse seafood trade show. This year closed with a record-breaking attendance for the event; and once again gave exhibitors and chefs on the Scottish pavilion a platform to showcase the stunning quality of its seafood produce.
Along with 18 Scottish producers, who represented the diverse array of premium products available from the industry, the team were joined once again by the renowned chef Steve Walpole and fabulous team who prepared delicious menus for attendees to try. Each day of the exhibition featured a bespoke menu highlighting some of the finest seafood. For the first time, this year’s attendees had the opportunity to watch dishes come together as Steve and his team hosted cookery demonstrations each day.
The event was also chance for journalists from around the world to meet the Seafood Scotland team, as well as a range of Scotland’s leading producers. We invited 12 representatives from international media, including journalists from the UK, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, the US, Germany and France.
Our CEO, Donna Fordyce, said: “A huge benefit of having the Scotland Pavilion is being able to meet new and existing customers in one place. Over the course of the event, we had the pleasure of hosting suppliers and buyers for lunches with premium, delicious, sustainable Scottish seafood through an innovative menu created by the fantastic Steve Walpole and team.
