The have been quick to engage in internationally recognised programmes to add value and recognition to their seafood offering. This has served to enhance Scotland’s reputation as a leader in responsible fishing methods and cemented its commitment to supplying sustainable products.
Marine Stewardship Council
The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) is an international non-profit organisation. They recognise and reward efforts to protect oceans and safeguard seafood supplies for the future.
Aquaculture Stewardship Council
The Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) is an independent non-profit organisation that establishes protocol on farmed seafood while ensuring sustainable aquaculture. The ASC provides producers with a certification of environmental sustainability and social responsibility.
Best Aquaculture Practices
As part of Global Seafood Alliance, BAP ensures aquaculture is done responsibly through its third-party certification program. BAP is the only seafood-specific certification program that is capable of certifying every step in the production chain. The process starts with hatcheries and ends in a processing plant where it is prepared for delivery to you.
RSPCA Assured
RSPCA Assured, previously Freedom Food, is the RSPCA’s ethical food label dedicated to farm animal welfare.
Label Rouge
Label Rouge (Red Label) is a sign of quality assurance in France. To obtain the Label Rouge, a very stringent set of standards prepared by a group of producers must be approved. These standards establish the criteria which the product must meet throughout the production chain, including farming techniques, feed, processing and distribution.
Friend of the Sea
Friend of the Sea has become the leading certification standard for products and services which respect and protect the marine environment. The certification awards sustainable practices in Fisheries, Aquaculture, Fishmeal and Omega 3 Fish Oil.
