Privacy Policy

Background

Seafood Scotland, in its role as an inter-branch organisation under Article 13 of Council Regulation (EC) 104/2000, undertakes measures of common interest that benefit the Scottish seafood sector.  Seafood Scotland’s activities will respect the aid intensities allowed by articles 17, 19 and 20 of Commission Regulation (EC) No 736/2008 on state aid to small and medium sized enterprises active in the production, processing and marketing of fisheries products.

Dealing with all seafood species, Seafood Scotland is a non-political organisation that works throughout the supply chain with fishermen, fish/shellfish farmers, processors, retailers, food service companies, caterers, NGOs and consumers.

This privacy policy sets out how Seafood Scotland uses and protects any personal data, that it collects and processes, in line with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

Seafood Scotland is committed to ensuring that all personal data is held securely and only in line with an identifiable lawful basis for processing as set out by the GDPR.

What information do we collect that is considered “personal identifiable” data?

In the event that contact information is processed, for the purposes of carrying out the services of Seafood Scotland, the following will be collected:

  • Contact name
  • Contact Job title
  • Contact work email address
  • Contact work phone number
  • Contact work address

Why might we store your personal data?

Personal data that is collected about you, in your capacity as a member of staff for your company, is held for the purposes of communicating with you in a work capacity and delivering our services.

It allows us to provide you with the service that we offer of facilitating industry contact and communication, of delivering industry related events and of providing an industry directory.

Seafood Scotland may also use your information to contact you for feedback or market research purposes. This information will be used to inform our activities allowing us to better serve the interests and needs of the Scottish seafood industry.

Supplier enquiries looking for potential buyers

When an enquiry comes in it is logged and a message is sent out to potential buyers of interest to see if they would like an introduction to the supplier. Once both parties grant consent, Seafood Scotland facilitates the exchange of their respective contact details.

The information is stored securely for reporting purposes and is not shared with anyone out with the purpose of the enquiry.

Lawful Basis for Processing: Contract: the processing is necessary for a contract you have with the individual, or because they have asked you to take specific steps before entering into a contract.

Buyer enquiries looking for potential suppliers

When an enquiry comes in it is logged and a message is sent out to potential suppliers of interest to see if they would like an introduction to the buyer.  Once both parties grant consent, Seafood Scotland facilitates the exchange of their respective contact details.

The information is stored securely for reporting purposes and is not shared with anyone out with the purpose of the enquiry.

Requests to be on the external supplier directory

Suppliers are sent a link to a survey monkey page which asks for the relevant details that will then be uploaded on to the websites supplier database.

The information is stored on the external supplier directory.

Lawful Basis for Processing –  Consent: the individual has given clear consent for you to process their personal data for a specific purpose.

Industry contacts internal directory

Updated as and when industry contacts are acquired in order to fulfil the services that Seafood Scotland offer of acting as an industry facilitator and inter branch organiser as well as delivery of industry events.

Lawful Basis for Processing: Legitimate interests: the processing is necessary for your legitimate interests or the legitimate interests of a third party unless there is a good reason to protect the individual’s personal data which overrides those legitimate interests.

Event registration & participation

When you register for a Seafood Scotland event your information will be used for the purposes of managing the event such as (but not limited to): the creation of delegate lists, designing programmes and market-insight workshops, to inform you of event details and to contact you after the event for feedback.

The information is stored securely and is only shared with project delivery partners such as Scottish Government, Scottish Development International, Scotland Food and Drink or Highlands and Islands Enterprise.  This is for the purpose of furthering agenda of the Scottish seafood sector’s growth.

Subject access request

If you would like access to the data that Seafood Scotland hold on you then please email: enquiries@seafoodscotland.org – your request will be fulfilled at no charge within one month.

Right to rectification

If you believe that Seafood Scotland holds data on you that is inaccurate, and you would like to have it rectified please email:  enquiries@seafoodscotland.org

Right to erasure & the right to restrict processing

If you would like the data that Seafood Scotland holds on you to be erased or for us to no longer process your data then please email: enquiries@seafoodscotland.org

Please note that in some circumstances it is not possible to erase your data, where the lawful basis for processing allows – in the event of this a full explanation will be given.

Security & Breaches in GDPR Legislation

Seafood Scotland is committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, Seafood Scotland has put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

In the unlikely event that there is a breach of the legislation Seafood Scotland will automatically follow the ICO guidelines in reporting a breach.

Sharing your data

Seafood Scotland will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to any parties out with the export partnership unless we have your explicit consent or are required by law to do so.
